Karmen Elaine began education and accelerated her passion for photography in Chicago, Illinois. Karmen studied at Harrington College of Design and graduated with a degree in Commercial Digital Photography.
2014 was a big year, maintaining residencies with event groups across the city as well as photographing professional portraits for websites, look-books, print, and other social media outlets.
Assisting and photographing anything and everyone from interior design work and furniture (Kevin Grace/ Humboldt House) Karmen Elaine has a strong connection with local Chicago businesses and designers. In 2015 working wth the B.A.R., USA Artist Assembly, The Chicago Portfolio School, and many more organizations.
2015 marks the launching of new website and wedding photography as Kelaine. The QUEERBOOK assignment began. This year there was a partnership with Chances Dances. PLATFORMS: 10 year anniversary of an exclusively inclusive LGBTQ party held across the city. Links Hall helped fund and print a catalogue that is filled with stories and photography of this collective. On sale now at chancesdances.org
2016 As portraiture and private events continue, videography and product work is on the rise. Curator of two gallery shows in the Chicago area at The Observatory Chicago, and The Fulton Street Collective. Red7Salon was another collaboration for this year. Feminism is a Humanism is a project created by the two parties to bend the scope of what “Feminism looks like” This photo project book is now for sale at Red7Salon. This assignment was also the cover story for Windy City Times.
Currently photographing small business and creating media content for multiple platforms, Karmen recently took part in the Nasty Woman’s Art Show benefitting Planned Parenthood this May in Chicago, Illinois. September 2017 she submitted the same collaboration project with Rachael Reuter at The Fulton Street Collective for an Expo after party event.
2018 The Fly Honey Show chose Karmen Elaine to complete and execute all promotional photography for season 9. Fall begins her move to Detroit after ten years away.
Gold Cash Gold served as a Winter 2018 new menu design client. Initial Detroit collaborations include Detroit Artists Test Lab and Detroit Artist Market.
